I’m including two pages this week because the really go hand in hand with each other. I think these two pages show off the surreal, cartoony, silver age comic, absurdity that I was after.
I’m an artist who responds off other artist work. I used to have a problem with this. But I realized that most artist work is a progression in time . Building on what others have done much like science and technology builds on others work to move it forward.
Each person that touches it will change it and bring their own voice to it. When you make something it is really like stepping into a time tunnel.
LIKE POLLOCK
I’ve seen alot of artist myself included who’s work looks a like someone else’s. But in time and as they evolve the work takes on a character of it’s own. Jackson Pollock‘s work looked a lot like what others where doing before he grew into the splatter paintings. Its not stealing or swiping from others its part of a growth process. Nobody works in a vacum. We all come from somewhere.
