With the price of just about everything on the rise you might think that the old saying, “a dollar goes a long way,” is just a lot of (uhm) bull! But never has your dollar been more important or more valuable than today. Many if not most of the community events you enjoy are produced by private individuals with contributions of all sizes. Below is a video discussing the importance of community contributions.
Contributors in our STEAM Zones
The Rail Yards Market will be having Cat Corva from The NM Watershed Resources Network, which is “a coalition promoting sustainable solutions for communities through green infrastructure and watershed restoration” in the Kids Zone. Kids will be engaging in a project which is a community coloring day, with both poster-sized community coloring and individual pages. Additionally, out in front of the Market Cuidad Soil and Water Conservation District will be bringing there Rolling River Watershed Model.
In the Art Demo Space, the presenter will be Rachel Harris-Huffman with the City of Albuquerque Public Art Program will be presenting an interactive station offering both education to and soliciting information and opinions from Market attendees regarding the Public Art Program and the Public Art Collection. The presentation will include an interactive info-graphic board about the collection/program, images of popular public artworks, brief surveys for adults and kids, a chance to submit ideas for monumental public art in Albuquerque, info about upcoming projects and opportunities, and SWAG including trading card packs and postcards.
Entertainment Zone
The Rail Yards Market ABQ community will be part of the Official Music Video for New Mexico Music Award winners Baracutanga. The stage is packed with talent this Sunday: Dirty Deluxe Dance Band,Sax Therapy, Second Opinion and Baracutanga will all perform before the video shoot! The Gift of Giving
In the spirit of giving, we have an ongoing raffle series thanks to the generosity of our vendors! Also after the RYM, Tractor Brewery Wells Park will be graciously hosting a fundraiser where part of the proceeds will go directly to benefit the market! More info here!
