This blog is a little off subject but well within the geek realm so here we go. Recently Leonard Nimoy moved past us into the great beyond. We lost an actor who infused life into one of the most recognized character icons in the world. I think that speaks to how effective of an artist Leonard Nimoy was.
Spock was put through the ringer as characters go. Mr Spock was blinded and healed, had his brain stolen and then replaced, lost loves, as well as having his home world sucked into a black hole. And not to mention dying and being reborn. I think what makes him so endearing is that he meet all this head on and wasn’t corrupted by
his troubled journey.
Fictional History
I grew up with Spock of the original series to me he’s a superhero. He is smart, superhuman and mystical as well. Spock was even cool he got along with space hippies when no one else could. I always wanted to have pointed ears and he had pointed ears whats not to like!
Losing Leonard Nimoy affected me more than I thought it would. I had a fictional history with Spock that I carried into my adult life. He became part of my tribe even one of it’s figureheads. He has been and always shall be with me.
