LIKE UNLIKE by Dave Weirdly
It’s funny how drawings change for you. Sometimes you just love a drawing sometimes you see that same drawing and you don’t like it. I put away stuff I don’t like. Later I come back and hope that my opinion changes.
TIME + DISTANCE = CLARITY
I’m not sure why this is but time and distance changes how you see things. A lot of the times I feel like I fight myself to pull out what I see in my minds eye and put it on paper. Whats in you minds eye is always better than what you can muster in reality. A little bit ago I tweeted an image were my minds eye and physical reality were on the same page. But that just doesn’t happen a lot. If I’m uncertain about a pages quality I put it away to relase the baggage of that struggle between physical Dave and mental Dave.
I’ve come back a lot of times very happy to find what I did works and I was being overly critical. When you put away your work and move on with your life it let’s you free up expectations. Other life concerns seep in and with that your perceptions shift. It’s odd but it’s like your suddenly renewed. But still there are times when you come back and what you did still STINKS! But that will lead to something better anyway. You just have more work to do.
