Pet-riotic Sunday by Alex Paramo

The Rail Yards Market is rolling out their new Summer Hours! They have lots of exciting activities planned for their “Pet-riotic” theme!

The folks from Lucky Paws will be on-site with their cute pets for adoption! The folks at Lucky Paws, which is run by the City of Albuquerque, work hard to find homes for our four-legged friends!

STEAM Zone

A trio of artists will be gracing the STEAM Zone this Sunday displaying Pet themed art!

• Stephanie Galloway is from Santa Fe, New Mexico. She has been writing poetry since she was a child and still loves to explore the magic in words and their power to touch others deeply. She taught art to children as the Children Zone Leader of the Rail Yards Market and is the founder of Free Art Friday Albuquerque. is a Hanging Pet themed art,
• New Mexican artist and designer Sean Wells is constantly in motion, creating contemporary muerto imagery and traditional retablo imagery.
• San Diego artist Dhaveed Woody is a professional illustrator and muralist.

At the Kids’ Zone this Sunday two representatives from the Watermelon Ranch (Amelie and Maya are ten years olds) will be teaching about how to take good care of pets (with stuffed animals), why you should get your pet spayed/neutered, and do some kind of craft for animals like a catnip bag. They also made crafts and will be collecting donations to benefit the Watermelon Ranch. Rail Yards Marketeers Tanya and Stephanie will be making animal masks with the kiddos!

Musical Independence

Our Pet-riotic celebration is anchored by our wonderful local entertainers headlined by Jazz/Funk/Rock band: Merican Slang!
