This next page is an interesting one in how it came to be. I was stuck on a character arc for GLOP the now sentient thought gel. It needed a goal or something to strive for to flesh out it’s character and give Gun something to bounce off of.
At that time Larry Wachowski, one of the co-directors of the Matrix trilogy had come out saying he was going to have a sex change. That was a WHOA moment for me.
I loved The Matrix movie(s) and saw and read alot of interviews with him and his brother. From that he just never seemed like a guy who would seek out a sex change. Interestingly enough he did, and now Larry is now Lana.
So that got me to thinking about our old friend GLOP. As it stood in my mind GLOP was a male but since GLOP was a thought gel it really has no sex at all. So I thought what if it wanted to have a sex and what if it wanted to be a woman. That kind of blew the doors off things and added another dimension to the story. And gave me a nice character arc for GLOP.
The Ether
You never know where your going to find inspiration. Letting things happen organically and bathing in the ether of existence can do wonders for your work.
