Three of the top ten selling drugs currently being sold in the United States are specifically for indigestion and heartburn. The main reason is that we live in a culture marked by poor diet which casues digestive problems, major health problems and shorter life spans.
Starting with the obvious tips, such as eating smaller meals, chewing thoroughly, reducing stress and avoiding cigarettes, alcohol and deep fried foods. The sugars and carbonation found in soda pops are also linked to diabetes as well as irritable bowel syndrome. In addition to eliminating these foods and beverages, eating organic foods and adding the proper amounts of distilled water to your diet can je lp aid digestive problems.
3 Herbs to Improve Digestion
There are also three herbs one can add to their diet.
- The first herb is Peppermint. Peppermint relaxes the intestines, soothes spasms, settles the stomach, elliviates gas and increases healthy gastric secretions.
- The second herb is Ginger. Ginger has been shown to soothe the digestive lining and balance gastric juices.
- Chamomile is the third herb. Chamomile is gentle and calming on the stomach. Combining the three herbs as a tea and drinking it at meal times will really improve your digestion.
