Sustainable Living for a Healthy You by Alex Paramo
In Environmental Science Sustainability is defined as the quality of not being harmful to the environment or depleting natural resources, and thereby supportinglong-term ecological balance. It is a common term in today’s lexicon and in reaches from the Universal to the Interpersonal. Our lifestyles can be termed as sustainable or unsustainable. What is the key to sustainability? Balance in every aspect of our life.
At the Rail Yards Market their mission calls for a focus on creating a sustainable local economy but that is only one component. Weekly at the RYM, educators, vendors, entertainers and volunteers create an environment that is fueled by a passion for the local environment. This Sunday they have many opportunities for you to learn about how to participate in the creation of a sustainable world.

Joining Sanctuary at ABQ is April Parrish. Her passion is founded in continuously learning, expressing and celebrating the Creative Principles at work in All Peoples and All Life while seeking the common threads of Sustainability and Beauty in a gentle ‘footprint’ on the Natural environment we all share on Our Earth. More information about April and her organization can be found here.
April is bringing an open canvas to RYM Sustainability Day’s STEAM Zone to share in a Live Community Earth Paint creation. The public will be painting, learning and playing creatively together!
Music and Yoga for a Sustainable Life
On our Main, among others, the folks from Mi Vida Yoga will be on hand to help you get into the proper balanced zone physically, mentally and spiritually!
Their program begins at 10 am so do not miss it! We also have various local musicians including RYM favorites, La Rondalla de Albuquerque. Find the complete schedule by checking on our calendar here.
Remember the words of the late Historian Howard Zinn, “You don’t have to engage in grand heroic actions to participate in the process of change. Small acts, when multiplied by millions (billions) of people can transform the world.” This Sunday, August 2nd from 10-2pm, the Rail Yards Market offers the opportunity for you to learn how you can do your small part.
See You Sunday!
