Love, Not You by JJ García
Never had the chance to say “I love you,”
In actions but not words was what I could do.
Now its long and gone and the heartaches too
But the memory remains how I love you
Afraid of the real and impassioned state
When the consciousness came from another place
The father denies and fears debate for the child who cared
For the families fate
She cried herself at the realization of being recognized
Too close he came and this greater conscious love could not be realized
So through phone is ended what could have been
The closest thing that love had confronted
Afraid to be protected and loved,
Of love, not you
It is once again long ago and far away the love wanted was so disposed
Better to be safe than loved, for exposure could do away with the
Angst and shove aside the real dilemma
That loving and being loved is
Too much to contemplate
For we would not want to be exposed
Because then we would enter into
How we might not handle more
Gone, gone, is that almost place
Where the fool arrived and made his stand
He gambled and gave
But his only mistake is that he could show love,
But was unable to say it
